Ryan Schmidt
I grew up fishing on Rainy Lake spending summers living on a remote island on Rainy Lake at my grandpa’s cabin. Ever since I was a young kid I loved fishing, exploring, and just being on Rainy Lake. At the young age of 14, I started working on Rainy Lake as a dock boy for Rainy Lake Houseboats. I continued working there summers unitl I started working as a walleye fishing guide the summer after I graduated from high school. While I attendeing Vermilion Community College, and Moorehead St University in pursuit of a degree in Parks and Rec, I continued my love of the outdoors and guided whenever I could.
After finishing college I realized being a walleye fishing guide year round was what I wanted do for a career. With a good base of repeat customers, and great relationships with local resort owners it was time to make a summer job into a year round job, and I haven’t looked back since.
